Did you know that Tax Goddess just turned 21?!! (I know, I know, we look too young! ;p
While today we are ranked among the top 1% of tax strategists in the U.S., it all began with something much smaller and far more personal.
When it all began, Shauna’s (the Tax Goddess and founder) very first sale was $25 to her best friend (she still has the invoice on her wall of fame in her office!). This modest start was the seed that grew into a global organization serving US business owners and delivering more than $2 BILLION in tax savings.
It’s a story of vision, resilience, and a deep commitment to excellence, which has carried us through two decades of change in tax law, the economy, and the way the world works.
The Early Days
In the beginning, there was just Shauna: One desk, one phone, and an unwavering belief that tax strategy could change people’s financial futures. She set the ball rolling from her home office, running every part of the business herself.
The first turning point came with a bold step: hiring her very first secretary. That decision transformed a one-woman operation into a growing firm. With two sets of hands (and two unique minds), the business began to scale.
Before long, it was time for the first “real” location: a church choir room! Not your typical office space, but it had character and a certain reverence. Shauna’s office sat on the upper level, giving her a playful “goddess” vantage point over … you could say the IRS! It was unconventional, but it worked.
Big Leaps
The years that followed brought more growth and moves. Tax Goddess cycled through three different offices, each larger and better equipped than the last, before taking the big leap: buying our very own 3,000-square-foot building.
For a while, it was everything we had dreamed of. Offices bustled with activity. Meetings happened face-to-face. The coffee pot was never empty.
But then, things started shifting. Remote work became an option, and so many of Shauna’s staff, even while local, wanted to work from the comforts of home. Given it made sense to allow her staff not to commute every day (who wants that!), Shauna walked into the office one day about 6 months later and found only herself and the office manager in! The coffee pot was wasted on staff drinking cups of joe from home! It was then, in 2013, long before the days of COVID-19, that Shauna decided to sell the building and take Tax Goddess fully digital.
More than a change of address, it was also a change of philosophy. By removing physical boundaries, Tax Goddess could recruit the very best talent, no matter where in the world they were.
Going Global
Without the limits of geography, Tax Goddess began recruiting elite experts across the globe to serve our clients.
Shauna, the Tax Goddess, brought on her second-in-command, Rajendra Parmar (a certified tax wiz, CAi, ATC, BCom, MCA), to lead the technical side. From there, the team continued to expand, combining local expertise with a truly global reach.
Today, our clients are supported by specialists who live and work across multiple time zones in the specialty area of tax strategy, tax mitigation, and strategic business planning. This translates into fresh perspectives and creative approaches inspired by diverse markets and industries worldwide.
