IRS timelines and in person meetings Phoenix

  • The IRS is now saying it is going to take 45 days, 60 days, or 120 days to get a response.
  • All walk-in options have been cancelled; if you have to physically go into an IRS office and submit something or ask questions, you would need to make an appointment.

Hey everyone! It’s Shauna, the Tax Goddess. I just had a staff meeting with our crew at Tax Goddess Business Services®. Our office manager was on the phone with the IRS and found out some interesting information. Lately, we’ve been having some real issues communicating with the IRS. We’ll submit a letter on behalf of our clients; we will request information or whatever the case may be and the IRS is now sending back letters saying it is going to take 45 days, 60 days, or even 120 days to get a response. Our office manager was just on the phone with the local IRS office here in Phoenix; they have, as far as they know, turned off all walk in appointments.

Now normally, that doesn’t impact many of our clients, but if you have to physically go into an IRS office and submit something, at this point, you do, in fact, need to make an appointment. There have been many budget cuts and many issues happening with funding for the IRS. So, I can’t say that this is very surprising, but I never want to give you guys a surprise. I want to make sure you guys are informed on the latest IRS updates. At this point, you do need to call to make an appointment to go into the IRS offices; that is here in the Valley and anywhere in Phoenix.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us and clearly you can tell my puppies are upset about that too. We will make sure that we get you the best information we have and the most current answers to any timelines or any submissions of information to the IRS. All right, thanks so much. Hope you guys are having a great week. I’ll talk to you later.
