Hey, guys. It’s Shauna, the Tax Goddess, here with you today to talk about the difference between a tax preparer and a strategic tax coach.
Tax preparer is somebody who takes your data, inputs it into a tax return, and spits out a number for you. Versus a strategic tax coach or certified tax coach is somebody who goes over your details, your life, your goals, your dreams, all of the different things that your money is involved in, and then helps you build a tax world that can get you to those goals. For example, if one of your goals is to put your kids through college, then it’s very important for you to plan for, well, how are we going to pay for that? It’s not cheap anymore. I think to get a kid through college these days is $120,000 over a four-year time span depending on which college you’re even going to attend. So for a lot of parents, this is a lot of money, and it’s something that you really need to take seriously is to how are you actually going to pay for it. There are different ways in the tax code that you can help your kids with college. Certainly something that a strategic tax coach can help you with and be looking at for you.
So that is the main difference between a tax preparer and a certified tax coach or a strategic tax coach. If you are trying to figure out how to put your kids through college, and you want the best possible tax write off for that, feel free to reach out to us.
