Are you susceptible to occupational fraud?

A very good friend of mine, and a local CPA, Robert Minniti is a specialist in accounting, fraud and forensic accounting, and is a certified fraud examiner and a certified forensic accountant.  Basically meaning he is an absolute specialist in the area of fraud.

Robert always writes about a generally accepted concept for fraud that is called the “fraud triangle.”  the fraud triangle is made up of three sections:

  1. economic pressure
  2. rationalization
  3. opportunity

The combination of these three conditions is what must be present for an employee to commit fraud against their employer.

What are you doing to prevent fraud in your business? What kind of systems do you have in place to protect your money from those who take it?
